Simon Torn

District Councillor for Roffey South
Parish Councillor for Roffey North
9 Sheperds Way, Horsham, RH12 4LT
Mobile: 07748 332774

Simon, a local district and parish councillor has represented Roffey, the area where he lives and grew up, since he was first elected in 2004.

Simon was educated locally before graduating from Imperial College, London. He now works as a Chartered Accountant for a large accountancy firm. He is also a trustee and the treasurer of Crawley and Horsham Home-start, a local children’s charity.

Simon continues to strongly oppose any development North of Horsham in the Horsham/Crawley Strategic Gap. He was heavily involved in the opposition to the current plan, working together with North Horsham Parish Council and District Councillors of all political parties, to present their case at the independent planning enquiry in November 2014. If he is re-elected Simon will continue to oppose development in that location in favour of more suitable locations around Horsham, until the plan is finalised in the autumn of 2015.

Simon is the Chairman of the NHPC finance committee where he has ensured that our council tax remains low. He is particularly interested in reducing anti-social behaviour and littering and he supports the continuation of weekly bin collections.

Simon has fought hard for residents and has always put them before party politics. He is therefore proud to be a signatory of the West Sussex County Times’ Free Speech Charter.
